How Gungho Generated £1,000,000 in 9 Months Using Our Own Best-Practice Model

We’ve built our reputation helping clients grow through structured outbound campaigns. But towards the end of last year, we realised our own internal lead generation wasn’t operating with the same scale or consistency. Outbound had always been part of marketing mix, but without the rigour we bring to client delivery.

So, we made a decision: put our own model to the test and treat Gungho exactly like a client.

Nine months later, following the same best-practice framework we deliver externally, we generated over £1,000,000 in new business revenue.

Here’s how we did it – and what you can take away.

Step 1: Treating Ourselves Like a Client

We didn’t reinvent the wheel. We ran the same onboarding process that every client gets:

  • Clear alignment on ICP, proposition and messaging.
  • Agreement on what “good” looks like in terms of leads.
  • Full briefing for the SDR team, with supporting collateral and objection-handling tools.
  • Weekly reports, dashboard analysis and feedback sessions.

This wasn’t a side project – it was a full campaign, run by the book.

Step 2: Building the Right Team

We didn’t just assign whoever was available. We carefully selected SDRs with the right tone, knowledge of the business and experience to handle complex conversations.

From there, we scaled: starting with just two callers, the team grew steadily as results came in. The key was context and confidence – making sure every SDR could hold meaningful, value-led conversations.

This approach meant better engagement from day one and smoother handovers to sales.

Step 3: Tackling the Data Challenge

The hardest part wasn’t the pitch or process – it was data.

Unlike our trademark database of 800,000+ GRC decision-markers, which is constantly enriched and validated for client delivery, our internal contact lists were a patchwork. Built over time for different purposes, many were outdated, scattered across systems and misaligned with the ICPs we had agreed.

We paused the rollout to rebuild properly. Fresh data was sourced, segments were tightened and workflows put in place to keep everything accurate.

This step delayed us slightly, but the payoff was immediate: cleaner lists, sharper targeting and much better connect rates.

We proved the model under the toughest scrutiny: our own.

Step 4: Running it Like Any Other Campaign

We applied the same KPIs and workflows used in client delivery:

  • A ramp-up model from kick-off to full delivery with realistic expectations.
  • Weekly reviews of lead quality, objections and conversion rates.
  • Rolling conversations between SDRs and the sales team for live feedback.
  • Regular sessions to listen back to calls, allowing us to identify trends and styles which work the best.

The pitch was never treated as fixed. By the third month it had evolved significantly: shaped by what prospects were actually saying on calls, common objections and feedback from Sales.

That adaptability was critical for reducing reschedules/no-shows and booking more relevant appointments.

Step 5: Keeping Sales Focused on Selling

One of the most significant impacts wasn’t just pipeline growth, but freeing our sales team from prospecting.

With the SDRs handling structured outbound, sales could focus on engaging with customers and closing deals. This helped to speed up our sales cycle, improve consistency and avoid the stop–start rhythm so many teams struggle with.

And ultimately, it saved us money! (experienced salespeople doing their own prospecting is NOT cost effective!!)

The Results

  • Revenue: Over £1,000,000 generated in nine months.
  • Consistency: A steady stream of appointments and wins, not just one-off deals.
  • Pipeline Growth: A scalable approach that built up active pipeline, nurture opportunities and also gave us a playbook to use to build traction in new verticals.
  • Sales Enablement: More meaningful conversations with prospects (warmer leads being fed to sales), improved data quality, and a clear feedback loop across SDRs, Marketing and Sales.

What We Learned

  1. Good data is everything – without it, campaigns stall and don’t have the desired impact.
  2. Value-led conversations win – active listening, objection analysis and tailoring content to buyer types boosted the chances of conversations converting to appointments.
  3. Structure scales – the framework doesn’t need reinventing; it just needs consistent application and personalised refinement.
  4. Continuous feedback matters – weekly reviews turned objections into strategic insights, sharpening messaging and reducing reschedules.

Why This Matters for You

This wasn’t a vanity exercise. Running our own campaign forced us to live the client experience and prove our model works under the toughest scrutiny – our own.

It confirmed what we tell every Marketing and Sales leader: sustainable growth doesn’t come from ad-hoc prospecting. It comes from structure, communication and continuous learning. If you align internal teams, invest in clean data and apply a repeatable framework, results do follow.

What’s more, we’ve now rolled the learnings into every campaign we deliver. For clients, that means sharper targeting, stronger messaging, and the confidence that our process isn’t theory – it’s been proven to deliver £1m+ in revenue in a short time frame.

Final Thought

Outbound doesn’t need to be complicated. It needs to be consistent, structured and supported by the right data and people.

Our internal campaign showed us how powerful it is when teams are aligned and feedback flows openly. That partnership mindset is exactly what drives success in every one of our client campaigns too.

If you’re ready to see the same impact on your growth, we’d love to show you how.
